WOAH. House Speaker John Boehner made it clear at his weekly press conference today that he disagrees with President Obama on the issue of gay marriage, and he would not answer the question: Do you feel that gay marriage is a civil rights issue? When asked, Boehner responded: ”I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and the president and the democrats can talk about all this all they want.” He added, “The fact is the American people are focused on our economy, and they’re asking the question: Where are the jobs?”

It’s like he’s pointing into our souls.
According to Boehner’s party, the jobs are in our vaginas. Or possibly hiding underneath a welfare queen’s mountain of financial aid and food stamps.

Hey Boner, guess what? It’s an election year. And I’m still a registered voter in Ohio. Don’t get too comfortable you homophobic, bigoted prick. On Nov. 6, 2012 is the day you stop trying to ruin our country.

On July 5th, 2011, Kelly Thomas, a mentally ill homeless man was beaten into a coma by Fullerton City Police. Five days after the beating, he was pronounced dead. This video of the atrocious scene was released just recently. I am beyond disgusted.
The city surveillance video that shows a group of Fullerton police officers beating a homeless mentally ill man to death last year was finally released today, laying to rest any argument that Kelly Thomas was a threat to officers.
The shocking video, which was combined with an audio recorder worn by one of the police officers on the night of July 5, 2011, was shown in court today, then later released to the media.
“Now you see my fists?” Fullerton police officer Manny Ramos asked Thomas while slipping on a pair of latex gloves.
“Yeah, what about them?” Thomas responded.
“They are getting ready to fuck you up,” said Ramos, a burly cop who appears to outweigh Thomas by 100 pounds.
“Well, start punching,” Thomas responds, never once displaying any physical aggression towards Ramos.
Moments later, as Thomas is standing while Ramos is ordering him to get on his “fucking knees,” Fullerton cop Joseph Wolfe, who is not charged in the case, walks up and starts beating his legs with a baton.
Then Ramos gets into the act and Thomas takes off running, moving out of the frame of the camera.
The cops keep telling him to put his hands behind his back and lay on his stomach, but they are both laying on top of him, making it impossible to even breathe, much less move.
The camera, operated by a dispatcher at the station, then moves toward the beating, showing Ramos and Fullerton cop Jay Cicinelli on top of Thomas as Thomas repeatedly apologizes and telling them he is unable to breathe.
As the video continues, one of the cops can be seen kneeing him.
“Please, I can’t breathe,” Thomas pleads as the officers keep telling him to put his hands behind his “fucking back.”
The cops keep telling him to “relax” to which he responds, “I can’t, dude.”
More cops eventually arrive and a little more than four minutes into the video, they start tasing him.
And a little after five minutes into the video, as three cops are piled on top of him, beating him, tasing him, one cop looks up at another cop who just arrived on the scene and says, “help us.”
At one point he yells out, “Dad, they are killing me.”
Even after seven minutes into the video, when six cops are on top of him and all Thomas is doing is crying for his father, they keep telling him to “relax.”
Last year, Ron Thomas, a retired Orange County Sheriff’s deputy, said the City of Fullerton offered him $900,000 to just go away, which would have allowed the two cops to remain on the force unpunished for killing his son.
Thomas was pronounced dead on July 10, five days after the beating that left him in a coma.

This has been a sickening story to watch.. I catch it near every time I’m in a taxi.
this is horrifying…
fucking cops.
this actually put me in tears.
omg i hope those cops suffer so badly
ACAB
I wish it were possible for a law to be passed allowing citizens to defend themselves against thugs like this without having to worry about an “assaulting an officer” charge. Do cops sometimes need to use force? Sure, that guy high out of his mind on PCP isn’t going to make things easy. But using force on defenseless human beings? We shouldn’t have to put up with bullshit like this. Life in prison, no parole for any motherfucker involved in this. Any cop who didn’t put an end to this is just as guilty as any cop who laid a hand on this man.

Would you please stop caving in to everything the Republicans want? Next time they demand something insane, stupid, or just down right greedy and self serving, please respond with a giant, “GO FUCK YOURSELF.”
They stand for rich people, big business, raping the environment, hatred, inequality…need I go on? But at least they stand for SOMETHING. And they’re willing to be loud and obnoxious about what they want. You however are still apparently trying to play nice with everyone. Stop letting them kick you around or you’ll get kicked out of the government and then we’re ALL screwed.
Grow some balls already.
At my wits end,

Great clip from yesterday’s Daily Show. This is not a religious issue. It’s a “do we want to provide the citizens of this nation with the health care they deserve” issue. And yet certain individuals think their religious values are more important than the health of others. Cause you know, that’s real caring and kind and Jesus-like. Not that hard, is it?
“Since taking the test, I’ve detailed its contents…to many of [my friends], particularly the math section…Not a single one of them said that the math I described was necessary in their profession.”
“It might be argued that I’ve been out of school too long, that if I’d actually been in the 10th grade prior to taking the test, the material would have been fresh. But doesn’t that miss the point? A test that can determine a student’s future life chances should surely relate in some practical way to the requirements of life.”
1) People jumping in lanes without asking
Is it really that hard to ask someone before you just jump into a lane? It’s not like I’m going to say, “No”. I just want to know that you’re getting in so I can adjust what I’m doing. It’s especially annoying when there is already a couple of people in the lane. I always thought that this was common courtesy but I guess not.
1.5) Slow people trying to “swim” with faster people
I wish the pool would do what other pools do and section off the lanes. Are you going to doggie paddle a lap and then sit on the wall for 15 minutes before you doggie paddles another? Lanes 1 and 2. Are you a semi-pro/collegiate athlete? Lanes 7 and 8. The rest of the lanes are divided up into ascending skill levels.
2) People leaning on the suit dryer until it stops running
To be fair, the name of this machine is quite a misnomer. This machine isn’t actually going to dry your suit. It only “wrings” out most of the water. Yes the sign does say that it is on an automatic timer but you really only need to leave it in there for 10-15 seconds.
3) The hot tub being broken
First of all, I know nothing about how hot tubs work. Maybe they’re really complicated, maybe ours is really crappy, I don’t know. What I do know is that it seems that more often than not, it is out of order. I would think that knowing that it gets a lot of use, you would have a good supply of pieces to fix it and people that know how to fix it. But again maybe the whole thing is way more complicated than I am aware of.
4) People not putting their stuff away
This one is simple. After you are done using your kickboard/pullbuoy/fins is it really that hard to put it away? You’re an adult, PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF!
5) Swim Lessons/Other clubs (i.e. the limited number of lanes available)
Don’t even get me started. (I am aware that the new Co-Rec should alleviate these issues but only time will tell.) And for those who suggest I just join one of said clubs or swim at a different time when the pool isn’t so busy, I would argue that I busy schedule doesn’t always allow that. I swim when I can which sometimes just so happens to be when the pool is the busiest.
6) The Swim Team
I understand that the new pool was built as a temple to honor the gods that are collegiate swimmers. (Again I am aware that the new Co-Rec should alleviate these issues but only time will tell.) However us plebeians would like a chance to swim too. When you specifically close the pool for the swim team and then say that the pool is going to be open for everyone else at a certain time, it is really annoying to walk in and see the swim team still in the pool working away. Be done when you say you’re going to be done. If you need more time, change the schedule. [This should not be seen as an attack on collegiate swimmers. I know a few and they’re bad ass. It’s more about how the pool management schedules the pool.]
